Finally, an iPhone 5 Review

Verdict: sell your iPhone 4 for an iPhone 5!

How was everyone’s weekend? Did you guys finally get the chance to get your own iPhone 5? Well we did, and here’s the review you have probably been waiting for. What’s in the iPhone 5 that would make you want to sell your iPhone 4S right now?

Apart from the previous report on the things Apple promised we’ll see on the iPhone 5, here’s a rundown on the all the things we did see, loved and hated about the sixth generation iPhone!

Great Points

You’ll never know how sleek the iPhone 5 looks until you hold one for real. The iPhone 5 not only looks smarter with its new design, it’s also surprisingly lighter than ever. It’s probably because we’re missing the Gorilla glass back plating here but if you hold up the iPhone 5 in one hand and the iPhone 4S in the other, you’ll feel the difference in density. It’s not strenuous on the hands to use and it’s also a little bit thinner than before. You’d probably want to sell iPhone 4 now and buy new jeans where your new iPhone won’t bulge! The taller, 4 inch Retina Display screen is also a good improvement; a few days using it and you’ll feel like something’s missing on the iPhone 4S.

We also love the fact that the keyboard looks more spacious (albeit the fact that nothing much has changed with the keypad) and that we have more space to actually see what we’re typing on the screen. There is also more space to see emails on Mail, tasks on Reminders and apps on the home screen. Watching videos on the iPhone 5 is flawless because it finally occupies the whole screen. (Nope, no black borders here!)

The 4G LTE support has finally arrived! We can definitely tell the Internet browsing is faster than ever, even on Wi-Fi. The camera photos are also a bit clearer than the iPhone 4S especially in low-light.

Not-So-Great Points

We’re seriously hoping that app developers are tweaking their apps right now to take advantage of the taller screen, the borders on the side are quite bothersome for a screen as awesome as the iPhone 5’s. Right now only most of Apple’s native apps have been tweaked to fit the iPhone 5’s screen. We’re waiting for games to be tweaked, because really, if there’s a great point here, it’s probably that gaming would look immaculate on the iPhone 5, but we still have to hold on to that thought.

Another thing we think was a booboo on this iPhone is that the whole bottom of the iPhone has been changed. Yeah, it could’ve been made to make the iPhone thinner and lighter, but the headphones were relocated downtown and now it’s impossible to dock your iPhone while using your headphones at the same time. iPhone accessory makers definitely need to work on that. And while we did love the idea of a reversible Lightning port, what exactly do we do now with our 30-pin connectors? We’d probably need to sell iPhone units that have those docks, or buy Apple-only issued adapters. What a pain!
